Service Description

Yellow Ball Group (Ages 11+) Wednesdays | 5:45–6:45pm Hill & Valley Tennis Club Our Wednesday Yellow Ball session is designed for players aged 11+ who are competing, preparing to compete, or are playing recreationally on the full court with yellow balls. This session focuses on refining technique, developing tactical understanding and building the knowledge and resilience required to thrive in matchplay. What to Expect 🎾 Refining & Strengthening Technique At this stage, the focus moves from learning strokes to refining them under pressure. Players will work on: Developing reliable, repeatable groundstrokes Adding variety — spin, height, depth and direction Serve consistency, placement and second serve development Transition skills including approach shots and net play Efficient footwork and recovery patterns Technical detail is delivered clearly and progressively, helping players understand not just how to execute a shot — but why. 🎾 Tactical Development & Point Construction Players will explore deeper tactical concepts including: Building points with intention Identifying opponent weaknesses Changing tempo and direction Court positioning and recovery decisions Singles and doubles tactics Through conditioned drills and scenario-based exercises, players learn to problem-solve and make smarter decisions during rallies. 🎾 Matchplay Scenarios & Competitive Awareness A key component of this group is learning how to manage competitive situations. Sessions include: Structured matchplay Score-based challenges (e.g. serving at 30–40, tie-break pressure) Defensive vs attacking scenarios Momentum shifts and mental resilience exercises Players develop composure, tactical clarity and a stronger understanding of match dynamics. 🎾 Developing Knowledge to Thrive On Court Beyond physical skills, this session helps young players grow their tennis IQ: Understanding patterns of play Recognising tactical adjustments mid-match Pre-match preparation and routines Basic goal-setting and reflection The aim is to create confident, thoughtful competitors who take ownership of their development. Player Pathway This group supports players hitting regularly or aiming to compete regularly and potentially progress into higher-level training opportunities and our Performance Programme. Commitment, focus and a positive attitude are strongly encouraged.
